The UK is a world leader in research into cancer, but only a small percentage of the new technologies, ideas and discoveries actually makes it as far as our hospitals and surgeries in the form of effective and affordable treatment for people diagnosed as having cancer. One of the major reasons for this, is that the cost of R&D (research and development) and follow-up trials is enormous – good, ground-breaking work in many cases, is left unfinished or shelved through lack of funding.

Many doctors and cancer specialists believe vaccine technology offers great hope and could lead to an entirely new form of cancer treatment and cure. There has already been a great amount of research undertaken into producing a vaccine, but results are being held back with the cost of trials. Cancer Vaccines UK aims to help – we are supporting those Charities and Institutions that are desperately trying to bring a vaccine for cancer to market by raising the additional funds that they require.
Cancer vaccines typically will have fewer side effects than current chemotherapy, radiotherapy or monoclonal antibody therapy, and as such, are likely to vastly improve the quality of life of existing cancer patients and prevent millions more developing the horrible disease. Latest figures from the National Cancer Institute show that in 2018, there were 18.1 million new cases and 9.5 million cancer-related deaths worldwide. By 2040, the number of new cancer cases per year is expected to rise to 29.5 million and the number of cancer-related deaths to 16.4 million. We have to stop this! Please help by supporting us – with your help a vaccine for cancer can be produced and literally save millions of lives.
